Q5 Link Troubleshooting microphone and speaker

Post by administrator » Wed Feb 16, 2022 12:57 pm

Use the Troubleshooting window in Q5 Link to make sure your headsets and speaker are working. Go to Help > Troubleshooting to display the Troubleshooting window.

Devices panel
You can verify that your microphone and speakers are working and can set the volume to a comfortable level without having to place a call. You can also check the image from your camera before starting a video call.

Select the microphone that you want to use from the drop-down menu.

Speak into the microphone. If Q5 Link detects sounds, you see Your microphone works.

Select the speakers that you want to use from the drop-down menu.
Click the Play button while listening to the speakers. Drag the volume slider to set the volume to a comfortable level. If your speakers are working, you see Your speakers work.

Click Test for the camera.
Audio panel
While you are on a phone call, you can test the quality of the audio.

To perform a valid test, you should be on an established call and not on a call attempt.

Additional Settings (Device Integration)
There may also be a problem with the way that Windows is managing devices, and detecting telephone events. This can be alleviated by taking the below actions.
1. Turn off device integration in Q5 Link.
Navigate to "Softphone" > "Preferences" > "Devices" and uncheck the box for "Allow device integration"

2. Disable Microsoft Communication sensed action.
Right click on the Volume icon on the taskbar and select Sounds.

3. Adjust levels using the Volume Mixer in Windows.
Right click on the Volume icon on the taskbar and select Open Volume Mixer.

This will allow you to adjust the overall volume, and the specific apps, and devices (input, outputs) volumes relative to the device master volume, and relationally.
It could be that Q5 Link is turned down, or that the Microphone is. Playing with these levels is best to do while on an active call, or the *3246 echo test so that you can hear the changes real time.
